The high cheese factor is thanks to a good cast: Carroll Baker plays Peppard's spicy stepmother, Bob Cummings (very interesting) plays a cynical agent, Elizabeth Ashley marries Peppard on her debut - unusually, she is a good girl. A sad note is Alan Rudd, who in his final character, as a male cowboy star, looks and sounds extreme. Elmer Bernstein's swaggering score helped the game go smoothly.
